Giving back: The charity stag & hen party

Stag and hen parties come in for a hard time for being disruptive and troublesome, and we don’t condone this behaviour so we’re really pleased to see Stacey Reed leading by example and  going for an alternative hen party; raising mush needs funds for her local hospice.

Stacey is proving hens can fly by taking her hen party on a sponsored sky dive to celebrate her upcoming nuptials, as report in the Blackpool Gazette.

Stacey and six of her friends will make the jump to support Trinity House who provide palliative care for people of all ages, while the remainder of her friends stay on the ground cheering the group on.

There’s a growing trend of people who are using their stag and hen parties to do good.  Here’s a few suggestions of what you could do:

  • Do a parachute jump like Stacey
  • Enter an ultra event like Michael Dicks
  • Volunteer at local charity; homeless charities, animal sanctuaries and wildlife trusts all need volunteers
  • Enter a half marathon, or other run such as Race for Life.
  • If a run is too much hard walk then do a sponsored walk
  • Organise an Ann Summers party (hens only!) and donate the profits, a great reason to put a smile on your face.
  • If you’ve got specialist skills you use in your day job then put these to good use for a charity.  For example if you’re a web developer why not help a charity give their site a makeover?
  • Club together and give out a micro loan to needy businesses in deprived areas

If you want any more information or ideas on volunteering then take a look at the official volunteering site.

If you’ve got any other ideas then leave your comments below – we’d love to hear them.

Good luck with your charity stag or hen party – it’s a great alternative party to hitting the town!
